Linked here is a PDF of a translation of an article written by Major Eivind Eyvang for the 1974-1975 Norwegian Army Museum journal. In here he gives the background for the collection, along with the data relating to their historical numbers along with the other weapons the Norwegian citizenry were required to own.

This translation is not perfect as it is a lot of Google Translate plus Norwegian dictionaries plus my slight editing to make some paragraphs make sense. In some places, especially if Major Eyvang retained either old Norwegian or Latin, I could not translate the text. In these cases I have left them untranslated but these occurrences are rare. Should you be able to improve the translation please let me know and I shall update the document.

Overall it is a very interesting read. There are some places where our collective knowledge has improved, such as the amount of extant Dussacks we now know exist in Europe compared to Major Eyvang. However, these incidents are on the low side and there is far more new information here than not.

Please enjoy
