So you may be wondering why I gathered you here today?

As long term participants of SERFO will now be guessing. We have lost our previous venue yet again! KSU Marietta decided it needed to renovate the facilities and so we cannot use them. That being the case we had to figure out something new.

This spanner in the works actually ended up being something very fortuitous. So I am now happy to announce our new venue and date!!

Oxford College of Emory University in Oxford/Covington, GA (east side of Atlanta down I-20. Approximately 30 minutes from Midtown Atlanta)

Yes, I wrote that correctly. SERFO is being pushed back to Summer of 2022!!! We are no longer a late Fall event.

This is due to Oxford College offering us opportunities we have not had previously. This includes the ability for all participants to stay on-site, gym access until the late evening, space and time for more classes and lectures. Due to this we shall be able to make SERFO into a more extensive event while also keeping the price as reasonable as we are able to.

Oxford College of Emory University is the original location of Emory University before it moved to its current location in Atlanta. The campus is on the smaller side with the Dorm halls, gym and food halls all within a five minute walk of each other at the most. 

We will have our own Dorm hall for the participants who wish to stay on site. Most of the Dorm rooms are fitted for two people, with a couple of triples. Should you need a single room then this is possible also at a slight upcharge. The Dorm rooms shall be assigned by club, with us doing our best to place all club members in the same area. The restroom and shower facilities are found in the halls as in a normal Dorm. There are free laundry facilities in each Hall also. Each Dorm Hall also has a communal area for those who just wish to get together and chat.

DInner on Friday, and Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at the Food hall on Saturday and Sunday are included in the cost for the Dorm rooms. Should you need a late night snack then you can bring food with you, or go into Covington which is only a five minute drive from the College proper. Those who are only coming for the day and not staying on site shall also have the ability to get a meal plan.

The facilities at the Campus we have access to shall be the Gym, Auditorium, Lecture rooms, and spare gym room. We have gym access all day which takes pressure off of us regarding getting out at 6pm on the dot!!! It also means that we can hold some tournaments on Friday allowing us more breathing space as well. We will also be able to give people more Free fencing opportunities that we previously were not able to do. The Lecture room access and added active space means we will also be able to hold more workshops and presentations.

Oxford Campus itself is beautiful, filled with older buildings that have all been renovated, with trees and green areas between each building. And yes, for all the Northerners, every building is filled with AC!! Refreshing, Cool, Icy AC!!!

Right now we are thinking of starting around midday Friday and ending the usual time on Sunday of about 6pm.

Registration for the event shall open later this year. As we have to verify Dorm room usage with the College we need to get guesses of numbers to our Oxford College Contacts. You will be able to register up to about a month or so out from the event. We will have a cut off date but we will send out warnings well before then.

Costs for the event are not yet finalized. However, we hope to be able to keep it below $200 for those staying on site. This will include 2.5 days of fencing and classes, 2 nights of dorm usage and meals for 2.5 days. For those not staying on site expect the price to remain close to the usual cost for SERFO. We are endeavouring to remain as reasonably priced as we can possibly be.
